Ÿ Postdoctoral Scientist in Autoimmune Neurology

This Postdoctoral Research Assistant position is an exciting opportunity to be part of a project which aims include methods to identify antibody secreting B-cells from individuals with antibody mediated diseases such as neuromyelitis optica, autoimmune encephalitis and myasthenia gravis, with subsequent cloning and characterisation of the target specific immunoglobulins.
This is a rare opportunity to study highly translatable patient-orientated scientific and therapeutic questions. The research will be based in the neuroimmunology laboratory in the West Wing, John Radcliffe Hospital, where you will develop further understanding of techniques in neuroimmunology such as antibody detection and primary neuronal cell culture.
Your duties will include molecular biology work including reverse transcription and PCR, cell culture analysis involving HEK293T cells to express proteins. You will collaborate with members of the group on the preparation of scientific reports and journal articles and occasionally present papers and posters.
You will have a PhD in protein biochemistry, immunology or closely related field, extensive technical expertise in research methods in molecular biology, protein purification and mammalian cell culture techniques are essential.
The post is full time for a fixed-term until 30 June 2020 in the first instance.
