英国谢尔菲德大学生物材料与组织工程
Research Associate in Biomaterials and Tissue Engineering
University of Sheffield - Faculty of Engineering: Department of Material Science & Engineering
Contract Type: Fixed–term, with a start date as soon as possible and a duration of up to 36 months subject to funding.
This exciting position is available to investigate how autologous adipose tissue can be used to treat and prevent skin contraction following burns injuries. Funded by Sheffield Hospitals Charity, the project will initially conduct an in-depth in-vitro study of how adipose tissue and its derivatives affect skin contraction, using well established three-dimensional skin models. Biochemical, functional and imaging analysis techniques will be combined to determine the mechanisms involved in these effects before translating these findings towards a clinical application.
The successful applicant will be working in the group of Professor Sheila MacNeil along with Dr Vanessa Hearnden and Dr Nicola Green. You will be based in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering, one of the top 10 departments for materials research in the UK, with world leading research facilities and expertise. The project will also be supported by clinical collaborators in the Department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals.
We are looking for a highly motivated and independent researcher who has demonstrated their ability to perform and publish high quality research. It is important the candidate has experience in three dimensional cell culture while prior experience of working with adipose tissue and skin tissue engineering would be desirable. The ideal candidate will have good time management and communication skills, to plan for the collection and culture of human tissue samples. Independence, motivation and willingness to work as part of a team of researchers are required.
