德国海德堡欧洲分子生物学实验室生命科学/分子细胞生物学/核细胞生物学方向博士后招聘
About the team/job
We are seeking for a highly motivated and excellent scientist to join our team. The Ellenberg group is part of the Cell Biology & Biophysics Unit and a multidisciplinary team consisting of biologists, chemists, physicists and computer scientists. Our overall goal is to systematically elucidate the mechanisms underlying cell division (mitosis & meiosis) and nuclear organisation (chromatin & nuclear pores) with cutting-edge imaging technology. For that purpose, we are developing a broad range of advanced light and electron microscopy technologies to assay the functions of the involved molecular machinery non-invasively, automate the imaging process itself to address as many molecular components as possible, and computationally process image data to extract biochemical and biophysical parameters.
Your role
The successful applicant will apply and correlate advanced imaging technologies to study the dynamic organisation and structure of our cells’ largest macromolecular complex, the nuclear pore complex (NPC). S/he will be integrated into our group and collaborate with several colleagues to work towards advancing our knowledge about the NPC’s organisational principles and the mechanism of its assembly. The successful candidate should be able to work creatively and independently, be well organised, rigorous, and enjoy working in an international team within a highly collaborative atmosphere.
You have
PhD in the life sciences or related disciplines.
Profound background in molecular cell biology, especially nuclear cell biology.
A competitive CV, also suitable to apply for fellowships if need be.
Excellent communication skills and fluency in English.
You might also have
Experience in advanced light and electron microscopy.
Why join us
EMBL is an inclusive, equal opportunity employer offering attractive conditions and benefits appropriate to an international research organisation with a very collegial and family friendly working environment. The remuneration package comprises a competitive salary, a comprehensive pension scheme, medical, educational and other social benefits. Excellent child care facility is available on campus.
What else do I need to know
We are Europe’s flagship research laboratory for the life sciences – an intergovernmental organisation performing scientific research in disciplines including molecular biology, physics, chemistry and computer science. We are an international, innovative and interdisciplinary laboratory with more than 1600 employees from many nations, operating across six sites, in Heidelberg (HQ), Barcelona, Hinxton near Cambridge, Hamburg, Grenoble and Rome.
Our mission is to offer vital services in training scientists, students and visitors at all levels; to develop new instruments and methods in the life sciences and actively engage in technology transfer activities, and to integrate European life science research.
The working language of the institute is English.
In your online application, you will be asked to include a cover letter, CV and a short (1 page) sketch of a research project you would propose related to mouse preimplantation development. In addition, please make sure to include contact details of 3 referees in your CV.
Further information about the position can be obtained from the Research Manager of the Ellenberg Lab (stephanie.alexander@embl.de).
Interviews are planned for February 2019.
An initial contract of 3 years will be offered to the successful candidate, however, it is foreseen to write a fellowship proposal to acquire additional external funding.
