Job Description
Postdoctoral Scholar
A new postdoctoral position is available in probiotics, intestinal epithelial barrier function, gut-liver axis, and alcoholic liver disease research in the Department of Medicine, Gastroenterology Division. This position is in the lab of Dr. Thomas Ma, new Chair of Medicine and well-established NIH-funded investigator. The research is involved in investigating the liver-gut axis and the mechanisms involved in mediating alcoholic liver diseases and the gut barrier. Candidates must have expertise in tissue culture, mouse work, whole animal surgical skills, protein biochemistry, and immunofluorescence. Postdoctoral applicants should have a PhD in cell biology, biochemistry, microbiology or a related field. Good publication record in peer-reviewed scientific journals, experiences in cell culture, handling mice, and treating mice with commonly-used drug administration approaches. Be highly self-motivated with strong interest in learning new knowledge and technique. Have excellent communication and organizational skills and attention to details. Be capable of conceptualizing, designing experiments and conducting studies independently as well as cooperatively with other lab members as a team. Have the capability to write manuscripts and grants for quality publications.
