Postdoctoral Research Associate - Radiation Oncology

Our lab is focused on improving the lives of patients with gynecologic cancers and other cancer types through basic and translational research. Our work involves basic protein and cell biology up to in vivo models and human specimens and trials. We have a particular expertise in radiation biology and gynecologic cancer models.
This position is to serve as the scientific lead of a project with recent NIH grant funding to determine the role of the lysosome in response and resistance to ionizing radiation. Applicants with a strong background in molecular and cell biology, protein biochemistry and/or redox chemistry will be prioritized. Experience in radiation oncology/biology is not necessary and will be a component of training provided. The applicant will be an integral member of the lab who participates in training of other lab members including graduate students and undergraduates.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

Trains under the supervision of a faculty mentor including (but not limited to):
Assist with grant preparation and reporting.
Prepare and submit papers on research.
Assist in the design of research experiments.
Evaluate research findings and assist in the reporting of the results.
Conscientious discharge of research responsibilities.
Maintain conformity with ethical standards in research.
Maintain compliance with good laboratory practice including the maintenance of adequate research records
Engage in open and timely discussion with their mentor regarding possession or distribution of material, reagents, or records belonging to their laboratory and any proposed disclosure of findings or techniques privately or in publications.
Collegial conduct towards co-trainees, staff members and members of the research group.
Adherence to all applicable University policies, procedures and regulations. All data, research records and materials and other intellectual property generated in University laboratories remain the property of the University.
Working Conditions
This position works in a laboratory environment with potential exposure to biological and chemical hazards. The individual must be physically able to wear protective equipment and to provide standard care to research animals.
Salary Range
Base pay is commensurate with experience.

Required Qualifications
Experience with or willingness to learn handling of small animals for tumor modeling.
Core molecular biology techniques including cell culture, Western blot and immunoprecipitation, in vitro assays, DNA sequencing, cloning, and gene editing.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
Preferred Qualifications
Radiation biology techniques, small animal models of tumor biology, and/or lysosome biology.
Expertise in protein interaction modeling a plus, as is protease/protease inhibitor biochemistry.
