Bioinformatics Postdoc Position: Metagenomic Research in Infectious Disease
The Postdoctoral Bioinformatics Scientist will work in a team of bioinformaticians and software developers collaborating closely with R&D scientists to evaluate existing and design and develop future bioinformatics solutions for next generation sequencing (NGS) based diagnostic tests for infectious diseases. The Postdoctoral Bioinformatics Scientist will lead data collection, mining and analysis to support IDbyDNA’s diagnostic analysis pipeline and new product development. The Postdoctoral Bioinformatics Scientist will work closely with the research and clinical teams to identify information resources and develop methods for curation of internal/external data. In addition, the Postdoctoral Bioinformatics Scientist will support and co-author collaborative studies with partner institutions across the U.S. and internationally. The candidate must be able to operate in a dynamic, fast-paced organization with high expectations on quality of deliverables. RESPONSIBILITIES
· Use existing public and proprietary software tools to analyze metagenomics data
· Develop and test strategies for continued improvements of IDbyDNA's products
· Guide data analysis and co-author collaborative studies of IDbyDNA’s metagenomics tests
REQUIREMENTS
· Ph.D. degree in genomics and/or bioinformatics or equivalent with extensive relevant experience
· Knowledge, background, or experience in molecular biology and microbiology
· Strong experience in bioinformatics analysis and analysis of large sequence data sets
· Experience in working in a Linux/UNIX environment and high-performance computing
· Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) and ability to communicate and work effectively and positively with all levels of the organization
