A Chief Scientist Office funded, 2 year Postdoctoral Researcher position is available, working in the laboratory of Dr Donald J. Davidson, in close collaboration with Professor Debby Bogaert, at the University of Edinburgh Centre for Inflammation Research.
The post holder will work as part of a multidisciplinary team on a programme characterising the clinical significance of Antimicrobial Host Defence Peptides (HDP) and the upper airway microbiota in defining risk of severe pulmonary viral infection with RSV, and developing and modelling novel prophylactic and/or therapeutic interventional strategies. This post will principally focus on characterising i) the expression and ontogeny of HDP, ii) the upper respiratory tract microbiome and iii) the inflammatory profile, from healthy and disease-specific longitudinal study cohorts, and subsequently modelling and defining disease significance.
