University of Guelph and Lakes Software are offering a Deep Neural Network Post-Doc research position. The successful applicant will develop new architectures to account for the evolution in time of spatial and temporal changes.This NSERC and Lakes Software funded research aims to reduce limitations of Deep Neural Nets for time series, such as LSTM, which can account for variation over time on a single location. It also wants to make use of convolutional neural nets to address spatial analysis. Our hypothesis is that a breakthrough in forecasting can be achieved by considering surrounding spatial inputs. A series of preliminary analysis indicates that this field is immature and require more development. Some architecture designed in this research, but not fully implemented included the melding of LSTM with CNN, the use of Generative Adversarial Network, among others. This field has immense applications in biology, agriculture, engineering, and the environment to name a few.
The successful applicant will work at Lakes Software, on Columbia St, in front of the University of Waterloo. This Post-Doc position will pay the successful applicant almost twice the average rate for this position in Canada.
