Research Fellow in Autonomous Systems Engineering
The Thales-Bristol Partnership in Hybrid Autonomous Systems Engineering (T-B PHASE, see https: // www. bristol.ac.uk/engineering/research/t-bphase/) is seeking to make a number of new appointments:
•1 x senior Research Fellow
•1 or 2 x postdoctoral Research Associate/Senior Research Associate
Our multi-disciplinary project seeks to develop new methods and technologies to help understand and overcome barriers to deploying smart, autonomous technologies in settings that involve close inter-operation with people. The successful candidates will be given a large degree of independence and encouraged to develop their own self-driven research programmes within this brief. Broad subject areas of interest to us include:
•Mathematical modelling and simulation
•Complexity science
•Artificial intelligence
•Systems engineering and architecting
•Human factors psychology
Note active engagement and collaboration with both the existing research team and with industrial stakeholders are essential in the delivery of these roles. The positions will be for 2 years in the first instance. The anticipated start date is 1st November 2020 or as soon as possible thereafter.
