Research Assistant at the Heidelberg Institute of Global Health (m/f/d)
up to 85 hours per month - JobID: P0069V123

The position is initially limited to 1 year with option of further extension.
The Heidelberg Institute of Global Health (HIGH) seeks a candidate to undertake research related activities in the field of adolescent nutrition and health in Burkina Faso. The candidate will perform data analyses and write manuscripts for journal submission. The candidate can select from a range of topics, which include eating behaviours, dietary diversity and/or quality, BMI, iron deficiency, household SES, mental health (socio-emotional development, depression), among many others. Our adolescent nutrition project is part of a consortium of four other countries (Ethopia, Tanzania, South Africa, Sudan) and therefore cross-country analyses are possible.
The candidate must have experience in working with survey data and dietary/mental health scales. The candidate will be required to show formal statistics training (at least one semester) or have published at least two papers that demonstrate data analysis.
Tasks
Literature search and review
Writing code
Cleaning and preparing data for analysis
Perform descriptive statistics
Perform regression models (under supervision if needed)
Undertake data visualization
Contribution to scientific publications (drafting, preparing figures, tables, references)
Required Qualifications
Must have some coursework/training in statistics
Good command of R, Stata, or Python (if you don't know what these are, you should not apply)
Fluent in spoken and written English
Diligence, reliability, and ability to work independently
Eagerness to learn new skills
