Our Laboratory for Mechanics of Materials and Nanostructures is looking for a
Post-doc or Scientist in the Field of ALD Thin Films
Your tasks:
You will work on applied research projects funded by InnoSuisse as well as on basic science projects on the nucleation, growth, and characterization of thin ALD/PVD nanolaminate materials. You will exploit our growth facilities with in-situ monitoring to synthesize novel materials for gas barrier films on polymers and metals and study their adhesion, deformation, and fracture mechanisms in relation to their interface and microstructure properties. You will characterize the microstructure of the deformed and fractured materials using cutting edge analytical techniques such as scanning and transmission electron microscopy. It is intended that all research output from the projects be publishable in peer-reviewed scientific journals and the candidate will be expected to take a lead in the writing process.
Your profile:
You must hold a PhD in Materials Science, Physics, Chemistry, or similar. A high level of motivation to work in close collaboration with industry, experimentalists and an international, multidisciplinary research team is essential. Experience in ALD and analytical techniques such as XRR, TEM, FIB, XRD, SEM etc. is desirable.
