Job Summary
The research laboratory of Dr. Shoji Maeda in the Department of Pharmacology at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, MI is in search of a Research Laboratory Specialist. The laboratory is situated in the heart of Michigan Medicine within steps of a multitude of research resources and easy access to collaborators, the clinics, and animal facilities. The laboratory focuses on membrane proteins, especially G protein-coupled receptor (GPCR) and downstream signaling molecules. The laboratory also employs protein engineering techniques to discover, engineer, and evaluate novel biological molecules to modulate the receptor function.
As the selected candidate, you will be expected to work under the guidance of the laboratory PI and together with other laboratory personnel (graduate students/postdoctoral fellow). The responsibilities will be to prepare laboratory reagents and solutions, wash laboratory glassware, sterilization of laboratory equipment and supplies, maintain laboratory supplies/stock, and some ordering. The responsibilities will also include molecular biology, cell biology and biochemical work with DNA, proteins, and cultured cells.

Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in a biological science or chemistry
Exemplary laboratory organizational skills
Intermediate: A minimum of 4 years of experience in molecular biology, cell biology and biochemical work with DNA, proteins, and cultured cells
Associate: A minimum of 1 year of experience in molecular biology, cell biology and biochemical work with DNA, proteins, and cultured cells
Desired Qualifications
Experience in protein expression and purification
