Postdoctoral Position – Syphilis Vaccine and Disease Pathogenesis
postdoctoral position is available in the Spirochete Research Laboratories at UConn Health to study outer membrane proteins of Treponema pallidum as syphilis vaccine candidates and virulence determinants. The project builds on our successes using biophysical and computational approaches to generate high quality topological and structural models for the syphilis spirochete’s repertoire of outer membrane proteins (the T. palldum OMPeome). The position requires training in recombinant DNA, bioinformatics, and structural biology and will employ protein engineering, structural vaccinology, and newly developed methods for in vitro cultivation and genetic manipulation of T. pallidum. A background in microbiology is desirable.
