Postdoctoral Researcher in Organic and Supramolecular Chemistry, Grade 7
£35,327– £40,928 pa
A postdoctoral position is available in the group of Professor A. I. Cooper FRS [liverpool.ac.uk]. You will focus on developing state-of-the-art strategies to discover supramolecular organic materials using a combination of predictive computational chemistry methods and robotic platforms. You should have a PhD in Chemistry with a particular expertise in multi-step organic synthesis, purification and characterisation (e.g., NMR, mass spectrometry, X-ray characterisation). Experience in supramolecular chemistry and working with computational collaborators would be advantageous.
This position forms part of an interdisciplinary team working with computer scientists on the EPSRC Programme Grant “Digital Navigation of Chemical Space for Function” to develop a new approach to materials design and discovery exploiting both machine learning and symbolic AI, demonstrated by the realisation of new functional materials. The project combines experimental and computational approaches. We welcome applications from ambitious researchers with the skills to contribute to the project goal across chemistry, physics and materials science. The post is available for 3 years.
