Job description
The mission of the Immunoimaging lab is to investigate the immunoregulatory mechanisms that are deranged in cancer, with the long-term goal of manipulating them to improve the effectiveness of immunotherapy. We investigate immune responses by combining genetic mouse models to visualize immune functions (e.g., T cell activation, macrophage inflammatory potential) to the cutting-edge technology of multiphoton intravital microscopy. We are particularly interested in investigating how checkpoint blockade immunotherapy contributes to activating melanoma-specific T regulatory cells, thus potentially limiting treatment efficacy (see Marangoni et al., Cell 2021; 384(15):3998). Another important aspect of our research is the use of mice bearing natural microbes (Rosshart et al., Science 2019; 365(6452):eaaw4361) to study the impact of immunological experience on tumor-associated T cell function. Research Environment
The Immunoimaging Laboratory started in September 2019 and is a growing, vibrant research group bringing together knowledge in tumor biology, immunology, advanced imaging, and biomathematics. Postdocs will have unlimited access to a state-of-the-art multiphoton microscope equipped for live cell, tissue, and mouse imaging and many shared facilities to pursue flow cytometry, human samples research, and transcriptomics. The Immunoimaging Laboratory is located in the heart of the Institute for Immunology, home to 40+ research and clinical science laboratories, providing ample opportunities for collaborative research and training fellowships.
Qualifications and Application Material
The successful candidate holds a Ph.D. in immunology, was highly productive during his doctoral studies, and is excited to work in a fast-paced and stimulating environment. S/he loves to mentor and be mentored, is a great team player, and has a very solid motivation to pursue a career in science. A strong experience with immunological investigation using mouse models is required. Experience in imaging, molecular cloning, single-cell genomics, or bioinformatics is considered a welcome plus.
