Join our team
European XFEL is an international non-profit company located in the Hamburg area in Germany. It operates a 3.4 km-long X-ray laser, which produces X-rays of unique quality for studies in physics, chemistry, the life sciences, materials research and other disciplines. The diverse scientific facilities at European XFEL enable scientists from across the globe to carry out a wide range of experimental techniques. The Röntgen-Ångström-Cluster X-ray based drug design platform (XDD) is a Swedish-German collaboration to develop a new structure-based drug design platform by exploiting the potential of the latest generation synchrotron and XFEL sources in combination with micro-fabrication, automation, and high-power computing. Within this project we aim at decreasing the development time of drug candidates substantially and therefore support the worldwide effort to react efficiently to new diseases and pandemic situations.
Within the Röntgen-Ångström-Cluster XDD the Sample Environment and Characterization (SEC) Group is looking for a
Postdoc (f/m/d) in structural biology for structure-based drug
development
The position
Protein purification and crystallization
Development of multi-crystal sample holders for efficient pharmaceutical screening on fixed targets
Room-temperature fixed target measurements at the SPB/SFX instrument
Working in an international and interdisciplinary team at European XFEL
Collaborate with our partners at DESY, MaxIV, University of Gothenburg and University of Hamburg
Requirements
PhD in the field of Biophysics, Biochemistry or related fields
Experience in protein crystallography, protein purification, X-ray crystallography
Strong communication and collaboration skills
Strong oral and written English skills (language of work is English)
Willingness to undertake shift work
