The Oldham Lab at UCSF (https://oldhamlab.ucsf.edu/) is searching for a postdoc to play a leading role in the production and analysis of omics data from human brain tumor specimens using novel experimental and computational strategies (see https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/37645893/ for representative examples). The successful candidate will be comfortable at the bench and the computer and will work with a team at the UCSF Brain Tumor Center to optimize data production protocols, perform multiomic and multiscale analysis, and draft manuscripts for publication.
Responsibilities
This individual will work closely with a research assistant to perform all data production efforts, including tissue sectioning, DNA/RNA extractions, whole-exome library prep and sequencing, RNA-seq library prep and sequencing, PCR amplicon library prep and sequencing, single-nucleus (sn) isolation and genotyping, snRNA-seq, and potentially more. This individual will manage and optimize Python scripts for automating data production efforts on liquid handling robots. This individual will also perform multiomic and multiscale data analysis and integration in R, prepare figures, present findings, and draft manuscripts for publication.
Qualifications
Must possess a PhD in a biomedical field with one or more first-author publications. Relevant bench experience and coding experience in R and Python is required. Cancer research experience is a major plus. Neuroscience experience is also a plus.
