The positions are funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG) (CRC 387 – “UbiQancer”) and a European Research Council (ERC) Starting Grant (“TerSor”). The projects will be carried out in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, which is part of the Biocenter of the University Würzburg (biozentrum.uni-wuerzburg.de/en/molbio).
The projects will 1. investigate how the MYCN oncoprotein enables aggressive pediatric cancers to grow rapidly and evade the host immune system via its recently discovered RNA-binding function and
2. characterize RNA-based proteolysis targeting chimeras (RNA-PROTACs) that degrade key proteins maintaining colorectal cancer cells.
Your profile
Excellent MSc/PhD degree in biology, biochemistry, or a related field.
Wet-lab experience in one of these fields.
Fluency in written/spoken English (minimum C1 level), knowledge of German is not required.
Prior experience in bioinformatics is strongly advantageous.
