Uses their training in cancer, hematopoiesis, or molecular biology to design and execute experiments, analyze and interpret data on research projects in the lab, both independently and in collaboration other laboratory members or outside groups. The Postdoctoral Fellow is expected to excel in areas of cancer and molecular biology and is expected to continuously learn new techniques to accomplish the research projects. The Postdoc is also expected to create and annually update/evaluate a short-term goals and long-term career development plan with the support and input of the PI, and to work toward these goals. Our research program focuses on understanding the molecular mechanisms of normal hematopoiesis, leukemogenesis, and therapy resistance in acute leukemias. Expertise in hematology or hematologic malignancy is preferred but not required.

• Collects and assembles data for any type of oral or written presentation including but not limited to lab meetings, grant progress reports, scientific conferences (locally and nationally).
• Independently develops scientific hypotheses related to ongoing work in the laboratory.
• Independently designs experiments to test hypotheses developed together with the PI.
• Independently carries out or delegates procedures for experiments.
• Analyzes results of experiments independently.
• Works with mice to perform in vivo studies.

• Works with BSL1 and BSL2 agents including human cell lines, primary human and murine cells, replication-deficient retro- and lentiviruses.
• Independently prepares oral and written reports for the P.I. on research to include, but not limited to:  coherently and effectively communicating our laboratory research by writing abstracts, manuscripts, grant proposals and data reports for grants and oral presentations with corresponding slide presentation for PI, local and national meetings.
• Performs routine and more technically challenging, novel, cutting-edge procedures, analyzes data and coherently presents results in the form of presentations, abstracts, manuscripts, and postdoctoral fellowships.
• Data generated will be the basis for laboratory grants, thus will assist in the writing, data preparation, and submission process as needed.
• Participates in teaching experimentation as well as knowledge of the field to junior resarchers in the laboratory.
• Interacts with co-workers, visitors, and other staff consistent with the iSCORE values of Jefferson.
